As a black, queer woman in a white, hetero-dominated industry, my mission is to foster inclusivity, diversity, and acceptance across every aspect of my business. I truly believe addressing the lack of diverse narratives in the wedding industry allows ALL love stories to be honored, and makes weddings about authentic connections where couples feel seen and understood!
When the Shayman’s asked me to photograph their day at The Mansion at Strathmore, I just knew it was going to be the most LOVELY wedding!! Not only are these two the cutest everrr, but this venue is a gold standard for Maryland wedding venues.
Built in the late 1800s, the mansion has so much charm woven into its details. I mean… towering windows that look like they’re out of a fairy tale! Polished wood, marble accents, sparkling chandeliers… I could go on and on.
Also, outside of the mansion, the manicured gardens make it easy to mix elegant indoor photographs with romantic outdoor portraits throughout the day.

This bride was absolutely stunning in her long white lace gown. The bridesmaids were top-notch in their coral colored silk dresses. The the groom + his groomsmen looked so sharp in their tunic style shirts.
One of my favorite things about a venue like this is how much personality it brings to your wedding day. You have beautiful architecture, natural greenery, and multiple spaces to work with, so your wedding gallery can feel varied and interesting without having to travel between locations.

We wandered through the gardens and these two just got to bask in their newlywed glow. I love these moments at all the weddings I photographed! There’s something so special about the “oh my god we just got freaking married” vibe that I love so much.

This venue is especially well suited to couples planning an intimate or medium-sized wedding. The venue lists capacity for approximately 100 guests for a seated dinner with a dance floor, and up to 150 for a standing reception. Your final capacity will depend on the spaces and layout you choose.

If you are as obsessed with historic architecture as I am, and dreaming of a wedding that feels absolutely timeless… then yes! I think The Mansion at Strathmore is absolutely worth touring.
It offers this beautiful balance of indoor charm, and outdoor scenery, with plenty of chances to create a wedding day that feels like you.
And from a photography perspective, having so many distinctive backdrops in one location is a huge bonus. You can capture the big, emotional moments alongside all those little in-between memories, with the mansion providing a beautiful setting for both.
